How To Raise Money For A Business - Government Funding (Part 1)

Image
Starting a business takes so much courage, discipline and patience that only a few people succeed it’s almost similar to raising a child you need to nurture it, be patient, show love, sacrifice, the works. I’ve always admired people that start business especially from their own pockets. The sacrifice that takes place behind the scenes is unimaginable. But people that start their own businesses, not the Instagram influencer type of business but selling a service or something tangible never tell us how they made it, where they got the funding or how they overcame the hurdles they were faced with. I think to some extent starting a business can be lonely, so lonely that some of the businesspeople hardly share the secrets of the trade and how they eventually got it right. Like do you start the business with your own capital or did get some funding? If so, then where? Did they ask for assistance when starting their businesses or was the intention to do everything solo? So, I may not ...

Mental Health - Here's Where To Get Help

Image
All of us, as in each one of use has felt the impact of Covid-19 one way or the other, not only in our pockets but some have taken a real knock on their mental health and I’m not talking about the frontline workers here. Some people were impacted immediately when the president announced the lockdown, most were like “Oh s**t, what’s going to happen to my job”, others felt the impact 3 months later, others are yet to feel the impact. Lucky you if you still had your s**t together throughout this pandemic. People react differently to mental health issues and its impact. Some people are more vulnerable/receptive than others and others are easily susceptible to stress. And unfortunately for some, it is hereditary. Mental issues can never be addressed with a “One blanket fits all” approach. And in this case when I talk mental health matters I mean when the things in your day to day life get too much for you to deal with and you don’t know who to vent to because you don’t want to “offload” y...

Travel Light...Travel Cheap....Travel On Discount

Image
Now…let’s see what options you have for traveling. Following up from my previous post regarding traveling, I also did some research and thought that it would be fitting that I share with you some of the holiday clubs and travel clubs that one can sign up for and get to travel on discounts or points. Now, what you need to now is that there’s a difference between a travel club and a holiday club…yeah I didn’t know either. So, when you sign up for a travel club you get to travel to the various holiday destinations, hotels, resorts whatever-you-want-to-call-it on a discounted price . The discounts are sponsored by the vendors/partners that are within the affiliated “group” and you pay for a portion towards your trip. A holiday club on the other hands works on a points system . You purchase a specific number of points which are then redeemed for any of the vacation options you have available each year. Like in any industry there are different holiday and travel clubs, some have more ben...

How To Travel Smart

Image
We are on Level 1 of Lockdown in South Africa and guess what…we can now travel both locally and internationally, I think international travel is still reserved for business but I do stand corrected. The tourism industry was badly affected by this pandemic and I’m pretty sure that from now up until mid next year perhaps there will be discounts and promotions on traveling for the obvious reasons. I think if you have some extra coins stashed away somewhere you should consider traveling while we still dealing with the aftermath of this pandemic. Rather die having travelled than not having had the chance to right? Being someone that loves to travel and yet I don’t like spending money unnecessarily I thought I would share some tips on how to travel without breaking bank. 1.     Always book a year before in advance, in that you budget properly you save costs and you have enough time to build your itinerary list. It just becomes easy on the pocket when you plan ahead 2.  Tr...

Why Stress When The Tools Are Right In Front Of You?

Image
The impact of Covid 19 has not only affected people psychologically but also financially. Some people have felt the impact on the pockets immediately and some people are yet to feel the impact. Personally, I was grateful that I was still earning my full salary during this pandemic. I believe in sharing is caring hence this platform. Other other than prayer and a positive mindset, these have been some of the people/platforms that somehow changed my financial behavior throughout this pandemic. I’m pretty sure you are aware of what I’m about to share but one can never emphasize enough the importance of financial literacy. I’m a firm believer of spending your time wisely and making small changes in your day to day living which will pay off in the long term. An example could be instead of using your data to follow gossip platforms why not use that data on reading column or pages that will be have some positive impact on you. You are actually making people rich on reading “nonsense” when y...

Need A Side Hustle?…What For ?

Image
I'm pretty sure that you have read or heard about people venturing into side hustles or an additional source of income somehow. Some are making an income from Youtube , Instagram, being ghost writers and so forth. It is true that an average person cannot rely solely on one income, because the truth of the matter is that you hardly find an employer that is willing to pay you what you deserve…highly unlucky unless you are one of the very lucky few. Also people’s lifestyles cannot be sustained on just one income in this day and era. For those that are looking into having an additional income, I always say that you need to ask yourself why you want an additional income. Do you really need it or is it just something you would like to have?. Once you have answered the why question, it then becomes easy for you to understand the purpose and value of what you will be doing. Perhaps you...
